The stats show that the Android Market had around six times fewer apps a year ago vs. today – 130,000 apps and growing. During that same period, Apple doubled its number and now has 300,000. And just for reference, Nokia’s Ovi Store is struggling at a measly 25,000. I was writing some time ago about analyst research with component manufacturers saying that a smaller tablet from Apple could be in the works. It looks like things are going in that direction. At that time, it was estimated that the smaller iPad would make its way to the market for the winter holidays and, since the WSJ’s sources say that manufacturers were told to gear up to start mass production around September....

To me, the Asus Taichi (pictured above), seems the most interesting of the new products (the full press release can be read on the4cast, here).
