What Is It?

This game is a Tetris-style pattern-matching game.  Match the colors, and you’ll take out a row.  Domino drop adds a few twists, like having to match a square of four blank pieces.  You can’t twist the pieces, so you just have to play the domino you’re dealt.  When you get the hang of it, you can change the game by going into the Tails or Pro mode. Those extra levels are included:  no in-app purchase is needed.

The animations look like an old wooden box of dominos.  The soundtrack is an old-style phonograph, complete with hiss and scratches.  Everything in the game feels old in a fun way.

Who Is It Good For?

If you’re a fan of Tetris but looking for some variation, you’ll love this game. This game is for all ages since it starts with basic pattern matching. The colors and sounds will engage the young kids, while the strategy will keep the older kids and adults playing.

Puzzle games like this demand your attention. You can’t just play for a few seconds and drop out. They can also be addictive. I spent way too much time just tweaking the soundtrack to my liking.

Should You Download It?

This is a keeper for me. I get to feel a bit nostalgic about a classic game but like the modern twist. As you know, we review Apple’s Free App of the Week regularly, and this is one of my favorites to hit the store in a long time. It’s only 45MB, so it shouldn’t take up much space on your iOS device. My advice, you should definitely download it and give it a spin! Comment Name * Email *
