Now, that doesn’t mean everyone around the world will be offered the upgrade right away this week. Fall Creators Update, like its predecessor, is being released in phases and users with the newest hardware should see it first. “Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will start rolling out to Windows 10 PCs across the world in phases, starting with newer machines first,” writes Microsoft’s John Cable. Microsoft also recommends that you wait until this update is offered via Windows Update for the best experience. Basically, The update might not be compatible with all devices and a gradual update gives the company more time to fix known issues as they come up. However, if you’ve done the Windows 10 update thing enough times already and are comfortable dealing with any potential update issues, here’s how you can get it on your time and not Microsoft’s.
Get Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Now
The simplest way to get it now is to manually check for the update. Head to Settings > Update & security and click the Check for updates button. If your system is compatible, you should see the update start to download and install. The update process can take a considerable amount of time and your system will restart a few times during the process. Just keep that in mind when you choose to grab it.
Another option is to use the Windows 10 Update Assistant. Head to the Microsoft Software Page and click the Update now button at the top to download the Update Assistant tool.
Launch it and follow the on-screen instructions that walk you through the installation process. It’s easy to use and will automatically keep all of your current files, apps, and settings.
On that same page, you can grab the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft which is another route you can take. Like the assistant, it provides a simple wizard with on-screen instructions that walk you through the update process; however, the Media Creation Tool also allows you to create physical install media like a USB drive or DVD. Remember to confirm that the “Keep personal files and apps” option is selected since you want an update and not a clean install.
On the other hand, if you have no desire to get this update because everything is working fine, and you don’t have time to deal with update issues, you can certainly wait. I took naps of an hour or so yesterday evening and would get up to check if it was done, but as it downloaded about 5% per half hour and then the slow install… sigh! I’ll have to either get a super fast cable connection I can’t afford, or figure out how to tell MS I have a service I have to pay more for as I use it and only download critical stuff as I fear most of this huge download I won’t be using at all. At the bottom you will find a box “Unblock” – tick that and apply. Now see if it works. Second tip:- Simply put the Media Creation Tool exe on the desktop and try it from there rather than from the default Downloads folder.
